Kottuvally is a small and a beautiful village. Its surrounded by rivers on its three sides and it adds a lot to its scenic beauty. The villagers include mainly of middle class working people belonging to different religions but definitely sharing the same culture. All are friendly, caring and hardworking. Thrikkapuram temple and St. Sebastian's church are the main centers of cultural and religious activities. The village has roughly over 3,500 families with a gross population touching something beyond 40,000. Chemmayam river draws the eastern and southern boundaries of Kottuvally. This river has influenced the Kottuvallians a lot. The western boundaries are strengthened by a vast collection of Pokkali rice fields which indeed form our main food reserve. Prawn cultivation is also active in these lands during off-seasons. Strong winds from these fields keep us cool during summer. Beyond these fields resides the Ezhikkara river which separates us from Ezhikkara. In the north our village merges with places namely, Pazhangattuvely and Kaitharam. The NH 17 reaches almost 2 km near to Kottuvally when it passes through Koonammavu and Cheriyappilly.
